Welcome to the Home Page for The Statue of Responsibility. What you will find in this Web Site
is a proposal for the State of California to improve upon an already existing National Park. Alcatraz Island.
The Statue of Responsibility is a conceptual proposal and any or all aspects are subject to change.
The design is of a family together yet gazing in all directions. The concept is stability and movement. Inside the statue will be exhibits depicting the
evolution of mankind in areas such as art, literature, science, music and even human emotion.
The plans would
include all the layers of history evidenced in the structures already on Alcatraz Island. We intend on integrating the
strategic protection of San Francisco Bay during the California gold rush, the effects of the Civil War on the West Coast, and the
beginnings of the NativeAmerican Civil Rights movement.
The statue, 750 feet tall, depicts a young girl looking east in search of a new beginning, a young boy west for adventure, the mother south for warmth and comfort, the father north for guidance
and a baby looking skyward to the
limitless possibilities that life can offer. The statue should have the look of rough cut slate so as not to be culturally distinguishable. We are a Human Family.
The Statue of Liberty has been a symbol of freedom and opportunity for millions all over the world. The Statue of Responsibility shows that liberty comes with a price.
This monument makes a firm statement that responsibility starts at home and each person is accountable for their own actions.
Currently the Island of Alcatraz memorializes criminals. We believe this monument can be a path away from crime and offer a more uplifiting moral alternative. |
